Alexis A. Rodriguez was born May 26, 1987 in Douglas, Arizona. He grew up and lived in Douglas for most of his life, graduating from Douglas High School. Alexis died September 27, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona. He only lived in Tucson for a few years.
Alexis had various jobs throughout his life, including the food industry, landscaping, and maintenance. The job he enjoyed the most was working with the maintenance crew at the University of Arizona McKale Center, until he returned to live in Douglas, and began working for the food industry again. Alexis worked hard for everything he had. He was a full time employee and rarely missed work. He was known as reliable, industrious and always showed up ready to face the day ahead of him. His coworkers would describe him as kind, giving, caring and a hard working companion.
Alexis loved listening to music, especially old school rap. You can bet his stereo was always playing some form of rap music, and without a doubt, Tupac frequently filled his speakers, thumping the base. Alexis appreciated music with a message that only he understood and he respected artists who had to work hard for their success just like he had. Alexis was the proud owner of a Chrysler 300. His vehicle was more that just a mode of transportation, to him it was a symbol of his accomplishments, and a tribute to his unique personality.
Alexis also loved to cook and loved to eat any type of food. One thing is for sure, he was not a picky eater. He used to dance Folklorico when he was in middle school in Douglas, even though he had two left feet like his dad, Tony. Alexis enjoyed going camping and hunting with his Tata Ricardo too.
Alexis had a heart of gold just like his momma, Elvira. He would show up for those in need and offer a helping had, no matter the circumstances. He made St Luke's Catholic Church in Douglas proud. Alexis had a charming personality which made people gravitate toward him naturally. He was protective of his family and close friends. Alexis loved life, his laughter was contagious. He had a beautiful smile with a dimple on each side of his cheeks, his smile could fill a room with joy. He was the bright light of any room he walked into. He loved and cared for his siblings like no other, he would have done anything for them.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elvira Montaño; maternal grandparents, Tata Ricardo and Nana Elvira Montaño; paternal grandparents, Tata David and Nana Rosa Rodriguez and his Tia Lupita Montaño.
Alexis is survived by his father, Antonio "Tony" (Elena) Rodriguez; paternal tios and tias, Rosa Linda Martinez, Guadalupe, Susana, Francisco, David, Sergio and Javier Rodriguez; maternal tios and tias, Francisco Montaño and Dolores Montaño; siblings, Hunter, Dustin, Apolonia, Alejandrina, Alvaro and Dominic; numerous cousins and great cousins; and many friends who he affectionately called his "bros" or "homies".
His memory will live on through the love and prayers of those whose hearts he has touched.
