87, Armida Varela passed away Sunday evening on March 3rd, surrounded by family who love and miss her dearly.
She was a native Tucsonan, with family roots in Old Ft. Lowell. Armida grew up humble in Barrio Blue Moon on 13th street. She was raised by her Ma Yoya & Ma Grande alongside her six siblings. She talked about “los tiempos de antes” she used to listen to trains go by, watch ten cent movies at The Fox Theatre, & go to bailes that were “muy suave fun” as she would say.
Armida later raised six children with husband Lini, helped raise eleven grandchildren, & loved when her ten great grandchildren would come to visit her. She appreciated the simple joys of life: Newspapers(obituaries) morning coffee, toothpicks, tacos, eating an orange looking out the window watching the clouds go by, and listening to children play.
She is survived by sibling Carmen(Joe),daughters Grace & Yoli, son Frank.(Sara). She is preceded in death by husband Frank Varela, Sons Eddie,Hector, and daughter Aurora.
