Barbara Lee Fox

December 28, 1929 — June 5, 2022

Barbara Lee Fox of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully on Saturday June 5, 2022, at the age of 92. In lieu of a service, it was her wish to be cremated and her remains scattered atop a mountain in Tennessee where she always dreamed of living. She was born in 1929 during the beginning of the great depression and was nine years old when World War ll began. She was a mother of seven children, Lloyd “Mac” (Judy), Suzanne, James, Sharon (Tim), Martha (who preceded her in death from cancer in 2012), Melanie (Frank), and Jon. She was stepmother to Jim, Sandy (Jack), and Dan (LeAnne). She was a sister to Alice and Jon and aunt to Sara and Emily. Her life was filled with 8 grandchildren, Lloyd, Christy, Sid, William, Melissa, Whitney, Kash, and Marcus, 3 step grandchildren, Tanya, Ryan, and Justin, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A longtime resident of Florida with her then husband Jim she worked as a school crossing guard before taking a job with Sears & Robuck catalog mail order department. She managed 30 employees for over 25 years. She loved to sew in her spare time and that love gave her an opportunity to make and repair costumes for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Sarasota, Florida. Upon leaving Sears after her children were grown, she would meet and marry her third husband Jerry and move to his native country of Canada where she enjoyed spending time at their lake cottage. After 25 years of marriage, she sadly lost Jerry to cancer and two years later she was fortunate to find happiness again with her final companion, Mike. She and Mike would move back to Florida where her sons Mac and James, daughter Sharon and Mikes family all lived. They would reside there for over 13 years before Mike was taken by Alzheimer’s and shortly after passed away from cancer. Her final home in Tucson brought her closer to her brother John, daughter Melanie, son Jon, a grandson and 3 great grandchildren.

She never met a stranger and loved to tell the story of giving birth to her three daughters Sharon Melanie and Martha all in the same year and Sharon being born in a car on the way to the hospital. She will always be remembered for making the most delicious jam you have ever tasted that she graciously shared with everyone she met. She lived a remarkable and very long life loved beyond words by her children, grandchildren, extended families, and friends. We will all miss you terribly!
