Cathy Cay Alari was born on August 5, 1954, in Rosewell, New Mexico, to loving parents, Warren and Evelyn (Morris) Cantonwine. Though she fought hard to make it, Cathy lost a difficult battle with cancer. She passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 68.
Though born in New Mexico, Cathy’s family moved to Tucson, Arizona, when she was a young girl. She grew up and went to school in Tucson, and remained there throughout her life. Cathy married Michael Spagle in 1972, and they were blessed with three children, Charlene, Gabriel, and Wesley. In 1996, Cathy married Patrick Alari.
Professionally, Cathy was an accomplished saleswoman in her younger years. Later in life she enjoyed working with special needs children as a mentor and as a school bus driver.
Cathy will be remembered for her big heart, and her strength and determination. She enjoyed making others laugh. Her pet bird, “Scout,” brought her a lot of joy. Cathy’s grandson, Adam Crum, lived with her. They were a great team, and they helped each other get through difficult times.
Cathy is survived by her children, Charlene L. Crum, Gabriel B. Spagle, and Wesley D. Spagle; and her grandchildren, Adam B. Crum, Molly Aiden Crum, and Colton Spagle.
