Clifford H Smith III, 65, died at his home in Tucson Arizona on March 19, 2023.
He was born September 9, 1957 in Evanston, Illinois, the son of the late Clifford H Smith, Jr and Laura Ann Gray Smith. He grew up in the Northbrook area and for several years as a child lived in Tongren, Belgium where his father worked.
He was a self-employed leathersmith. He owned Smitty's Custom Leather and Saddlery for many years in Southern California and then in Tucson. He was known for his beautiful saddles, tack, holsters, vests and other hand made leathergoods. He was also an excellent chef and worked in several restaurants over the years.
He most recently retired from Preservation Pros in Tucson.
He is survived by his son Clifford Smith, daughter-in-law Kara Smith and grandaughter Winnie Smith of Palatine, Illinois, as well as siblings Gi Gi (Virginia) Smith, Gray Smith and Ronald Smith all of Orange County, California. He is also survived by former wife Tammy Pitcock Eastman of Tucson, AZ.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
