Crystal Ann Mueller

March 21, 1959 — November 2, 2019

Dr. Crystal Ann (Davis) Mueller passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Tucson, AZ after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was born March 21, 1959 to Dale and Mary Davis. She married Bill Mueller in 1981 in Casper, WY and became the mother to two sons at the same time. In 1985, their daughter, Debra Ann was born.

Dr. Mueller was an eternal optimist and loved to celebrate - birthdays, holidays, milestones, special moments. Nothing was too small. She also was an advocate for continuous improvement. She participated in every research study for which she was eligible during her cancer journey. She is likely best known as a champion of peace and an artful mediator.

Dr. Mueller was a lifelong learner. She graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, WY in 1978. She attended Northwest College in Powell, WY from 1978 to 1980 where she earned her Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts and Communication. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and participated in Forensics, Drama, and Yearbook. Dr. Mueller attended the University of Wyoming at Casper College from 1990 to 1993 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and Social Sciences. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, and Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Mueller attended the University of Phoenix from 2001 to 2009, where she earned a Master of Arts in Organizational Management in 2003 and a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership in 2009.
Dr. Mueller was a passionate Human Resources professional for over 20 years. She was a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR). She enjoyed mentoring other professionals. She also volunteered with Nepris to share her expertise with high school students. She was certified as a mediator through the Wyoming Department of Agriculture.

Her career started at Wyoming Medical Center (WMC) in 1993. She left WMC in 2003 as an Organizational Development Leader to join Natrona County School District (NCSD) as Executive Director of Human Resources. She retired from NCSD in 2015 as Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. She stated, “Some are blessed with insight to know when one should concentrate on healing the human being and listen to one's inner spirit.”

Dr. Mueller always enjoyed volunteering. She volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy Association telethons in Natrona County for several years and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children. She was a member of Five Trails Rotary Club for multiple years and served as president of the club from 2012 to 2013 and was named Five Trails Rotary Club’s Rotarian of the Year for 2014-2015. She was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. She was nominated as Woman of Distinction in Casper, WY in 2014. She was named Woman of the Year for 2018-2019 by the Xi Delta Tau chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

Dr. Mueller was blessed to have many people surround her with love and welcome her into their homes as family. She in turn welcomed everyone into her family. She is survived by her husband, daughter, numerous siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dr. Mueller is preceded in death by many loved ones including her grandparents, parents, and one son.

Services will take place in Tucson, AZ. A mass will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church (1946 E Lee St, Tucson, AZ 85719), followed by an inurnment ceremony at Holy Hope Cemetery (3555 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705).
