Edward Burt (aka Hal or Ed) passed away on May 27, 2023. Born September 19,1947 in Nacogdoches, TX Ed’s family moved to Tucson, AZ when he was still a young boy. He served in the Air Force during Vietnam from 1967-1971, stationed in Taiwan for a time. He married the love of his life, Charlene, in 1968 after just a few dates and several long-distance letters. He and Charlene had three children, Raeanne, Mike and Sherry but several cousins and other kids in town called them their second parents and he was happy to be coach, mentor or just listener to anyone who needed him. He worked as an electrician at the San Manuel Copper Mine for most of his career and was one of the last employees to leave after it was shut down. He then continued working as an electrician building safety racking systems for switchgear until 2020 when he only retired to prevent younger employees with families from being laid off. He was a voracious reader of world history, current events and earth science. He loved the outdoors and was an avid mountain biker. He was doing what he loved, riding his bike on a beautiful sunny day, when hit by a car in late 2020 which caused the injuries that he ultimately succumbed to. Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlene, and his daughters Raeanne and Sherry and their families. In lieu of a service or sending flowers, remember Ed by getting outdoors. Go for a bike ride, or a hike or just sit outside and enjoy the sun. Think of Ed when you feel the sun and breathe the fresh air. He is with you there.
