Tucson

Edward Wendell Morton, Jr., fondly known as "Fast Eddie" or "Circle Eddie," was born on July 22, 1938, in Denver, Colorado. He spent most of his life in the city he loved before moving to Tucson, Arizona, where he peacefully passed away on April 6, 2025.

Ed was a true jack-of-all-trades with an unmatched work ethic and an even bigger heart. He began his career at Safeway at the age of 16, quickly rising to store manager - proudly finishing his career of 33 years as a District Manager. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become a restaurant owner, but even that wasn’t enough for his boundless energy. Ed also worked at Tony’s Meat Market simply because he enjoyed it. A natural at customer service, his infectious humor and warm personality made him unforgettable. In 1991, the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce honored him as Small Businessperson of the Year.

Beyond his career, Ed found joy and inspiration in nature. An avid birdwatcher, he marveled at the beauty of the world around him and spent countless hours camping and relaxing in his hammock. A true adventurer, he achieved the remarkable feat of visiting all 63 U.S. national parks.

Above all, Ed treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara Morton; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Karli Morton; daughters, Thai Morton and Lia Kenley; sons, Scott Morton and Kyle Morton; and three cherished grandchildren, Josephine Karli, Edward Andrew, and Riley Christopher. His marriage to Barbara also brought the joy of five stepchildren - Amanda May, Tia Johansson, Ann Liddick, Steve Wyckoff, and Pete Wyckoff - along with fourteen step-grandchildren and nineteen step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Wendell Morton, Sr., and Esther R. Morton, nee Tempel.

Ed will always be remembered for his boundless sense of humor, his sunny disposition, and his ability to light up any room. He shared his love, laughter, and joy with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
