Glinel Earl Harrison was born on March 1, 1956, in Madisonville, Texas, to Wilbert, Jr. and Huneda (Nolan) Harrison. He passed away on July 14, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 67.
“Glen,” as he was known, moved with his family to Tucson, Arizona, as a young boy. He grew up and attended school there, graduating a proud badger from Tucson High School. While at Tucson High, Glen was a highly regarded athlete as an accomplished sprinter and shot putter. He also led the varsity football defense. He then went to the University of Arizona, where he received a Bachelor of Accounting degree.
On November 15, 1984, Glen married the love of his life, Julie Ingham, in Tucson. There they made their home and raised their children, Christopher, Lara, and Nyisha.
Professionally, Glen worked as an accountant and software developer for many years. In the early 2000s, Glen opened a software development business where he helped impoverished nations create hospital databases and patient management systems to better care for patients. Personally, he was an active member of the Good Shepherd UCC, a former board member of the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault (SACASA), and an awarded supporter of the Southern Arizona Planned Parenthood.
An inquisitive mind, he was always interested in learning new things, whether it be quantum mechanics, the piano, or new programming concepts. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for the University of Arizona, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Phoenix Suns. Glen was a huge fan of Star Trek, and he enjoyed sitting on the back porch and listening to music, especially Earth, Wind and Fire, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Marvin Gaye, Santana, Jazz, Motown, and R&B.
Glen will be remembered as an intelligent problem-solver who was kind and humble. Additionally, his volunteerism will stand as an example to all who knew him.
Glen is survived by his children, Christopher, Lara, and Nyisha Harrison; his granddaughter, Phoebee Harrison; and his siblings, Wanda, Charles, Ruby, Robert, Linda, and Brinda Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Huneda Harrison, and his brother, LaCharles Harrison.
A Celebration of Life was held on July 29, 2023, at Good Shepard UCC Church in Sahuarita, Arizona.
