James David Tucker was born on May 23, 1963, in Abilene, Texas, to James Tucker and Catalina Perez. He passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 60.
“Pollo,” as he was affectionately known, moved with his family to Tucson, Arizona, as a young boy. He first lived in Barrio Libre, later moving to Barrio Centro. He attended Ochoa, Safford, Wakefield, and Tucson High Schools.
On November 17, 1991, James married Kristina Anchondo, in Tucson, Arizona. They were blessed with two daughters, Stephanie and Catalina. He was later blessed with a son, Severiano. Pollo worked hard to support his family. He worked as an asphalt paver, a roofer, a furniture deliverer, and as a store manager for Safeway.
James loved low riders, and he found great joy in cruising in his car. His first love, however, was his family. He was a loving father and adoring grandfather. His friends were also an integral part of his life.
Pollo will be remembered as a real people person. While it mattered to him what his family thought of him, he didn’t really care what anybody else thought of him. He was true to himself.
James is survived by daughters, Stephanie Ortega and Catalina Tucker; his parents, Catalina Perez and James Tucker; a sister, Sara Tucker; and 9 grandchildren, Aritza, Dezeray, Jovannie, Donovan, Anthony, Ashlinn, Zoey, Isaiah, and Yahir. He was preceded in death by his son, Severiano Flores.
Services will occur on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Sensible Cremation and Funerals, 109 W Grant Rd., Tucson. Viewing will take place from 2-3pm, immediately followed by a Rosary 3pm. Mariachi’s will continue the celebration from 4-6pm.
