04/02/1981 – 07/11/2022

“Josh or Chachi”

Joshua was born in Austin TX, on April 2, 1981, to his mother Dorothy and his father Larry. Since Larry was in Tucson, Joshua travelled back and forth from Austin to Tucson in his younger years until he & his mother moved to Tucson permanently at which time Joshua was age 5. Joshua was an only child to his parents but was part of a large family who thought of him as their own brother, son. Mercy Miranda was Josh’s Grandmother who helped in raising him and the one Joshua thought of as a second mother. Mercy was able to instill her spiritual beliefs and Loving nature that helped Joshua grow in faith as a little one. He was baptized at St. Margaret’s church, which was the parish of the Miranda family. He was the “little brother” to many & had plenty to keep him busy, he continued to travel to Texas for most of his youth to teenage years to be with his family there as well. Joshua grew to be an amazing Man.

Joshua loved swimming and competed for years, he also played football as a youth and softball. Joshua was very intelligent, and excelled in all things he participated in. He was a fun loving, very compassionate person. Joshua graduated in 1998 from Envision High School, and he continued his education after graduation by taking some classes in Computer Science at Pima College. Joshua loved to read, Science fiction and horror stories & movies were his favorite. Joshua grew up reading comic books and playing video games on the Atari and eventually moved up to Duck Hunt and playing on the Running Mat on the Nintendo. He was also one of the” Infamous Three Amigos”, along with Paul & Santi.

As time went on Joshua’s family grew as he gained a little brother and sister. Though they were a bit younger – Joshua was able to enjoy time with them. His brother and sister Zachary & Michaela from his father’s side gave him more family he was able to grow with. His father and Stepmother Freddianne were able to spend time with and watch Joshua grow as a father. Dorothy his mother and Stepfather Robert enjoyed many trips with Joshua’s family to the waterparks and Peter Piper Pizza. Grandparents Theresa & Charlie also were apart of their daily lives - teaching about hunting and camping & loving everyone. Joshua’s family grew and was very content, they had so much to be happy for.

Joshua met his wife of 22 years when he was just 17. Grace and Joshua dated for a while but married very shortly thereafter. He always said he knew this was who he wanted to be with forever, and they were able to make this happen. From his marriage he gained 3 beautiful children. His children, Angelo, Theresa, and Joseph helped in continuing to shape that wonderful person that we all loved so dearly. He adored his children and enjoyed raising them into the thoughtful, loving people they have become. It was very important to Josh to raise his family in being spiritual with the Lord, and to treat their faith in God as one of the most important things they can have in their lives. He succeeded in making this happen.

Josh and Grace moved to Las Vegas, NV for some time but decided they wanted to be with their families in Tucson and came back home. Though they enjoyed trying something new Joshua knew he belonged in Tucson. After returning Joshua continued his work as a cook and kept on bringing up his children & his family.

Joshua was diagnosed with Congestive heart failure in 2017. His heart began to become weaker and had many procedures to help him. Joshua did the research and decided that he would not want to be a transplant patient, so refused to be so. Joshua loved his family and that was the worst pain for him, knowing that he would be leaving his family far earlier than we wanted. Joshua’s CHF began to worsen, and the final stages began to make Joshua sicker, and he then started having more medical problems. These issues which were very hard on his body were also very hard on his children & wife who cared for him at home until his passing. He had absolutely wonderful children, & wife who stuck by thru thick and thin. We will miss Joshua in every way possible and we pray that you all remember him the way he was when he was well and the person he grew to be. We lost Joshua so young at 41, we pray & ask for prayers for his children & wife in the months to come in healing & love.

Joshua was preceded in death by his father Laurence “Larry” Miranda, his Grandparents Santiago & Mercedes Miranda, his Grandmother Shirley McDermott, Aunts & Uncles Santiago “Jimmy” Miranda, Diana M Celaya, Richard “Rick” Miranda, & Carolina “Carol” Miranda, Older Cousin Jose Luis “Louie” Celaya.
