Joyce A. Nutbrown

November 29, 1935 — January 18, 2025

Tucson

Joyce A. Nutbrown passed away January 18, 2025, with her loving family by her side after breaking her hip. She was 89 years old. She leaves behind her sons, David Nutbrown from Newport News, VA, Gary Nutbrown (Kim), Andre Nutbrown and Craig Nutbrown (Mary) all of Tucson, AZ. Loving grandchildren, Josh, Heather, Jessica, Amber and Jordon. Along with five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Madyson, Mila, Mackenzie and Aiden, as well her niece, Kay Andrews and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to many friends in Vermont (VT). Joyce was born November 29, 1935, in Plainfield, VT to Laura Glidden and Stanley Foster. She was raised on a farm in a loving home with Joyce being the oldest of five siblings.

She graduated from Spaulding High school in Barre, VT, where she met and married her high school sweetheart Gilbert Nutbrown on March 26, 1955. They lived in and around Barre, VT until 1962 when they moved the family to Tucson, AZ and have resided there ever since.

Joyce worked at various jobs in Tucson. She sold Avon door to door in the neighborhood. When the delivery truck stopped at the house we knew the house would have the “wonderful” aroma of the various products that had to be bagged and delivered.

Joyce worked at Maxwell Junior High School as a Cafeteria Attendant for many years and eventually retired. Her youngest son and two great grandchildren also have attended the Maxwell as well. Joyce liked to eat, especially sweets and her homemade donuts.

Joyce was very much a people person. She attended Light the Way Church and was a member of the Bible Study Group. A special shout out Pastor Dale for stopping by to see Joyce. She also loved playing Bunco with her dear friends and has been a member of the Red Hat Society. One of her favorite pastimes was going for a ride. It didn’t matter where and if it included a stop at a casino, Joyce did not shy away from a slot machine.

Joyce liked to travel and had been on many trips, including Alaska, Europe, Florida, a bus trip across the midwest, with several trips to Virginia and Vermont.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends, but never forgotten.
