Kim Ilene Mills was born on September 1st, 1956, to Floyd Robert Mills and Norma Kathryn Mills in Watertown South Dakota. Kim spent her childhood in Watertown until they moved to Huron, South Dakota, where she attended Huron High School and graduated in 1974.
Kim continued her education at the University of South Dakota and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986. Kim was a Legal Assistant for many years and following her profession she traveled, enjoying the environs of Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, the Black Hills of South Dakota, and Tucson, Arizona.
Kim enjoyed the arts available in cities big and small. She organized a science fiction reading club while attending the University of Minnesota, was a published poet, occasionally sketched and painted, she had a beautiful but seldom heard signing voice, and loved to collect ceramic figurines.
Kim took great joy in and cherished her family, friends, and of course her cats Tangle and Cricket. She was cheerful until the end. Kim gained her wings on October 25, 2023. She will be deeply missed.
Kim is survived by her brothers, Mark A. Mills, and Dean R. Mills of Cuter, SD, her uncles Kenneth Hayden of Richland, WA, Sherwin Schoppert of Marion, SD Verlyn Hauck of Menno, SD, her Aunt Joan Schoppert of Broomfield, CO, numerous cousins, and her good friend Catherine Kemp.
