Lorraine Harris’ Obituary

Lorraine Harris was born in Lodgepole, Montana located on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation on October 3, 1929. She crossed over to the other side of the river in the early morning of June 9, 2021. Lorraine was 91 years old. She is survived by her sister Arlene Anderson, her children Cheryl Stone, Lucinda Harris, Colleen Buser, Craig Harris, and Colin Harris; her grandchildren, Nora Christine Crabtree, Spencer King, Valerie Keller, Danielle Beaver; and great grandchild Leila Crabtree.
Lorraine graduated from Flandreau Indian School in 1945 and attended nursing school in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she met and married James Wilburn Harris, who served in the U.S. Air Force as a career non-commissioned officer. Lorraine served as a military wife and traveled to Germany, England, and Spain, as well as several assignments stateside. They moved to Tucson, Arizona in September 1969 and settled in the Old Pueblo upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force in 1974. Lorraine worked as a secretary/receptionist for the City of Tucson, as well Tucson Job Corp until she retired in 1994.
Lorraine enjoyed hiking and camping with her family, working crossword puzzles, and attending church services at The Door. A Celebration of Lorraine’s Life will be held from 11 am to sundown on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Riverview Park located in the El Rio neighborhood. A dish to share with family and friends can be brought to the celebration in lieu of flowers. Lorraine and her love of life and family will be missed but her sweet spirit lives on our hearts.
