Lovey Jo Belcher-Prim

Lovey Jo Belcher-Prim was born April 28, 1951, in Memphis, Texas to Lovie Baker and Joe Belcher. She is the fourteenth child, born to Lovie Baker. Lovey was preceded in death by both parents, her son Gregory, five (5) sisters, Lena, Barbara, Addie, Clara, and Sammy Jo. Three (3) brothers, Robert, Tom, Charlie. Lovey passed away February 28, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona.

Lovey’s family moved from Dekalb, Texas to Marana Arizona when she was about 4 years old. The family later moved to Tucson, Arizona.

Lovey attended Manzo Elementary, John Spring Jr. High and Tucson High School. Lovey was a very popular beautiful young lady in Jr High and High School with many friends. She always dressed very stylishly and was the envy of many of her classmates.

Lovey met and married Samuel Prim in Tucson, Arizona. Lovey was blessed with six (6) children, two (2) daughters and 4 sons.

Lovey, had a wonderful funny sense of humor, she would say some of the funniest things. She had an unmistakable laugh and would laugh about anything and everything including herself.

Lovey worked at a number of jobs but mostly she was a homemaker, raising her children until she had a health setback.

Lovey loved her children and was very close to her extended family sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews. She would give most of them funny nicknames.

A couple of her favorite hobbies were cooking (she was a very good cook) especially soul food, and shopping. The girl had an eye for shopping for good quality clothes.

Lovey, leaves behind to cherish her memories her beloved children:2 daughters Chonice Prim-Sauls, and Kisha Gribble both of Tucson, Az., and 3 sons – Sherard Prim (Lynn), and Kevin Gribble both of Tucson, Az., and Michael Shannon Cates-Prim of Selma, Texas. Her 4 sisters: Vennie Taylor, Lois Dalve, Dorothy Faye Johnson, Doris Mitchell, and (1) brother Simon Belcher. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.

Lovey will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
