Marie Elizabeth Nelson

Marie Elizabeth (Clatanoff) Nelson departed this life on September 5, 2022 at the age of 83 years. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Jim, and three children; Matthew (Diane) of Columbia Falls, Montana, Miriam (Bryan) of Tucson, Arizona, and Elizabeth of Gilbert, Arizona. As well as two grandchildren; Claire (Joel) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Andrew (Angel) of Billings, Montana. And four great grandchildren; Ellie, Everly, Jude, and Ben. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Emma Clatanoff, her three brothers, Bernard, Ed and Fred and her granddaughter Megan.

In addition to raising and inspiring her own children she taught elementary and junior high school students and was a favorite of many of her pupils. Marie was a life long member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod where she sang in many choirs including the touring acapella choir of Concordia Teachers College, Nebraska. She spent much of her retirement years traveling and enjoying her favorite hobbies which included sewing, quilting, gardening and crafts.

Marie’s loving, kind, and creative nature will be sorely missed by her family, many friends and acquaintances.

A memorial service will be held on September 21st at 10:30AM MST at Catalina Lutheran
