It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Wingate Abbott on September 01, 2023, at the age of 75. Born in Yonkers, New York on July 24, 1948. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandfather. Mark is survived by his wife Bonnie Abbott of 45 years, his children Tom Barney, Suzie Barney (Georgia Schneider), Amber (Joe) Granado, and Autumn (Fredde) Knight, his grandchildren Blanca, Mercy and Jojo Granado, Jocelyn Borgarding, Easton and Mason Knight, great-grandchildren Marley and Zeke, his Aunt Geri Abbott. Mark is preceded by his parents Fredrick and Helen Abbott of Florida.
Mark received his bachelor’s in business from the University of Arizona. He served 18 1/2 years in the Army Reserves before becoming a Bus Driver and Warehouse Manager for the Flowing Wells School District. He was a self-employed computer whiz, and recording producer even recording
musicians like Alice Cooper, and Barbara Streisand before they became famous.
Mark was known for his bright blue eyes and a smile that could light up a room. He was the King of Dad Jokes. He could never turn down a chance to have a thumb war with his grandkids. He hated mixing meatloaf when eggs were in it, but knew it made his kids laugh their heads off when he did. He was a master at water fights.
Mark was a huge fan of fishing and had the fish tales to go with it. He was a member of several bowling leagues in Tucson. He could never resist showing off his pool and dart skills. He loved to sing, no matter what the song was. Mark was a huge supporter of the Girl Scouts. He was very proud to be a Life Member, troop leader, and volunteer. He never hesitated to jump in and teach a group of girls no matter if it was 10 to 400 about camping, astronomy, fishing, and even how to sell Girl Scout
cookies like a pro.
Mark will be remembered for living his life with gusto! In Lou of Flowers the family asks that you support the military troops and the Girl Scouts by purchasing a box of girl scout cookies to be donated to the troops in Mark's name.
