Paul R. Hassing passed away on Saturday, November 12th at Normandel Place in Tucson, AZ.
Paul was born on November 17th, 1939 in Seattle, WA. to Nils Peter and Astrid Hassing, the youngest of four children.
Paul was a graduate of Auburn Academy in Walla Walla, WA. After graduating he joined the U.S. Air Force where after his discharge, he began a twenty seven year career with American Airlines in management. Starting in San Francisco, he transferred and moved thru the years to various cities. He was most proud of his accomplishments while managing the airport facility in San Jose, CA.
After his retirement he began a new career as a travel agent in Tucson and Phoenix for several years.
Paul was a lover of trains and the railroad which led him to move to Skykomish, WA. where he lived for several years, sitting on his patio deck and watching the trains go by daily.
Paul also was a man ahead of his time, working with his computer, always plotting new routes for the airlines and railroads, his favorite hobbies.
In 2017 he moved back to Oro Valley for health reasons and the warm sunshine.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, stepmother Gladys Dana and sisters Alice Hassing and Betty Barnett. He is survived be his husband and partner of forty five years William Lauffer, sister Erna Nielsen of Carlsbad, Ca., many nieces and nephews and his extended family.
Paul was a lover of animals, in their years together he and Bill had at one time or another a total of five dogs, four cats and two parakeets, all who have crossed over the rainbow bridge.
Services will be held on January 27, 2023 at eleven a.m. at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery 15950 N Luckett Rd. Marana, Az. 85653.
