Richard “Jabba” Lozano, 44, was called to Heaven by our good Lord while asleep on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Jabba was born on March 17, 1980, in Tucson, Arizona and is preceded in death by his Nana and Tata Lozano, Nana Montez and Nana and Tata John-Boy.
Jabba is survived by his two children, his monkeys, Lovieanna (Lovie) and Richard Jr. (Jabbie), his parents, Buddy and Yolanda Lozano, two brothers, Buddy (Marie) Lozano, Fredo (Kelly) Lozano, Nephew/Little Brother, Diego, Goddaughters/Nieces, Alessa (Gabriel), Kailey, Kenzie and Nephew, Kruz.
Jabba graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1998 where he played football his freshman and sophomore years, but his best accomplishment in sports was when he wrestled on the varsity team for three years. He was never a state champion but was a champion for two years in the Flowing Wells Tournament and a champion to those who wrestled him and knew him. He coached wrestling at Sierra Middle School and Desert View High School. Currently he was an assistant coach at Tucson High School and loved all of his wrestlers and their families.
Jabba worked at Budweiser (Anheuser Busch) for a number of years and made many great friends. The past 10+ years, he worked for UPS, his home away from home. He was dedicated and loyal and loved his job and co-workers. He loved being the old guy amongst the young guys and being able to outwork them all, including the bosses.
Jabba had a big heart, big hug, and big smile. He loved being everybody’s friend. He was our “Mr. Personality” and we are all so lucky and blessed to have had him in our lives.
His memory and legacy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at St. Augustine’s Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. beginning at 9:00 a.m.; Rosary 9:30 a.m.; Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. A celebration gathering will be held at Rodeo Park, Ramada #1, beginning around noon.
The inurnment service will be for immediate family and will take place at a later date and time.
The Lozano Family and Jabba’s “Monkeys” extend their gratitude to everyone for all of your love, support and kind words during this time of sorrow.
In lieu of flowers, UPS has set up a “GoFundMe” account to help his “Monkeys” at https://gofund.me/762197c7.
Jabba you are flying with the Angels now, rest in peace, we love you and you will be deeply missed.
