Robert Loftus Clancy, 1982 -2020 Robert L. Clancy of Tucson, AZ, formerly of New Canaan, CT and Hudson, OH, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on July 1, 2020. Rob, or Robbie as he was known for most of his life, was born in Stamford, CT in 1982. He lived in New Canaan, CT until 4th grade when he moved with his family to Hudson, OH. He graduated from Hudson High School where he was an All-Conference standout on the football field, a varsity wrestler and star faceoff man for the Hudson Explorer Lacrosse team which played for the State Championship. He attended the University of Colorado/ Boulder and also studied at Ohio University and the University of Akron. From the beginning of his early adult life, Rob struggled with mental health issues yet he maintained a close relationship with his family and looked forward to beach vacations, hikes, BBQs and movie nights. He enjoyed living in Arizona and in the last year of his life took up a new hobby, bowling, even joining a local bowling league. He is predeceased by his mother, Sheila Loftus Clancy, and survived by his father, Robert J. Clancy and stepmother Katherine S. Clancy of Tubac, AZ; sisters Lauren Clancy (Rick Kammler) of New Canaan, CT and Regan Clancy (Simon Judes) of London, UK; stepbrothers Charles Alston (Alison) of Charlotte, NC, Peter Alston (Maggie) of New York City and stepsister Katherine Alston of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nephews and nieces. A celebration of life will be planned once larger gatherings are permitted.
