Ronald Robert Gray was born August 24, 1940, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Walter and Alva (Bales) Gray. He left to be with the Lord on January 18, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona, at the age of 83.
Ronald grew up and went to school in Phoenix, graduating from Phoenix Christian High School. Ronald also served his country honorably in the United States Army. After his military service he attended Cal State Northridge in California. He earned his undergraduate degree there, later pursuing his Masters at the University of Phoenix.
In 1962, Ronald married the love of his life, Janice Long. They made their home in southern California, later moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pinetop, Arizona, before returning to Phoenix, Arizona. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Deidre.
Professionally, Ronald worked as a CPA and in financial management, retiring from the State of Arizona, Department of Water Resources in 2007.
Golf, fishing, and reading brought great joy to Ron. He was a very knowledgeable man and also enjoyed working with computers. However, most of all, he loved spending time with his family and dear friends. Ronald was reserved, but he loved people and found happiness in helping and serving others.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Gray; his daughter, Deidre (John) Hemphill; 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Joel, Danielle, and Dara Hemphill; and his two sisters, Rella Bigby and Roni (Gary) Barton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marie Gray, and his brother, Ray Gene Gray.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Christ Church of the Valley (CCV Main Campus), 7007 W Happy Valley Road, Peoria, Arizona, Building 400. A Graveside Service, including military honors, will be held at 1pm that same day, January 30th, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Phoenix Rescue Mission, phoenixrescuemission.org. Ron had a passion for making sure people are fed!
