Ronald William Hull, 89, died peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2023, in Green Valley, Arizona. He was born in Elyria, Ohio, the youngest of three children born to Harold H. Hull and Clela Underwood Hull. He really didn’t like the cold and snow, so enlisted into the United States Air Force shortly after he graduated from high school, hoping to be assigned somewhere in a warmer climate. He was accepted into the Air Force Academy, but declined and went right into flight school. He earned his commission as a 2LT and his pilots wings through the Air Force Aviation Cadet Program, graduating in 1956.
Ron had a long and distinguished career in the Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He flew a variety of airframes during his career and traveled around the world multiple times. He was a proud Vietnam War veteran, returning about once a month for the next several years. He was serving at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas when he met an Air Force Nurse named Kathy. They married on July 4, 1961. They chose that date because they knew they would always have that day off so that they could celebrate their anniversary. They raised their family and lived in several states over the years. He officially retired and began a new phase of life as a Retiree.
Ron and Kathy loved to travel, whether it was in their RV, on a cruise ship, or in an airplane. There were so many places that Ron wanted to show Kathy. They traveled through Arizona in the early 1990s and loved it so much that they never left. They lived in Benson for several years before moving to Green Valley in 2017. They gave up their traveling lifestyle and moved into a retirement community called La Posada at Park Central in Green Valley, AZ. They continued traveling, now to visit family around the country.
Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Daniel Hull and their three children: Linda (Robin) Stuart of Huntsville, Alabama; Laura (Steve) Warrington of Larkspur, Colorado; and Ronald William (Ginny) Hull, Jr., of Auburn, Alabama. Ron and Kathy have six grandchildren, Justin, Kayla and William Hull, Jarod (Anna), Jackson and Aaron Stuart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Clela Hull, and both of his sisters, Phyllis (Joe) Hanna and Helen (Harry) Kirkpatrick.
